Donald Dempsey - Director of ESFVON
Donald Dempsey O.B.E
Director

"For many voluntary and community organisations, the thought of applying for European Funding is a daunting task - but hundreds of projects in the North East of England benefit from this source of funding. More importantly, they help tens of thousands of people to enhance their training and employment prospects, and to contribute to the regeneration of their communities.

The specialist support which ESFVON provides free of charge for these organisations include a telephone help-line, regular information updates, individual consultations, assistance with project development, seminars, and support visits to ensure the effective management and operation of projects.

If you want to explore whether your project ideas may be eligible for European Funding, we will be pleased to help you."

ESFVON, is the North East of England's specialist regional development agency for organisations accessing or seeking to access European Funding. ESFVON, a regional charity, was established in 1991, to initially provide advice and support for existing and potential applicants wishing to access funding from the European Social Fund through Objective 3 . Since 1997, ESFVON's experienced team has enabled the development of services to include advice on other Objectives, including 2, and the former Objectives 4 and 5b, and Community Initiatives.

ESFVON is part funded by the European Social Fund, European Regional Development Fund, and Regional Partners. ESFVON provides a free service to voluntary and community groups in the North East. During the past twelve years ESFVON has advised and supported organisations which have been successful in being recommended for funding of over £100 million, with a total value of projects in excess of £200 million.

ESFVON has links with over 1000 organisations providing a network covering the counties of Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and the unitary authorities of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland.

In contributing to the regeneration of the region, ESFVON works to strengthen the role of the voluntary and community sector by:

It is with great sadness that ESFVON announces the untimely death of Carole on 13th September 2007.

Carole's contribution to ESFVON since joining at the formative stages in 1991 was unsurpassable and her commitment undiminished.

Known to hundreds of organisations and individuals, she was the first point of contact for many, and her friendliness and understanding was widely acknowledged by all who knew her.

The mainstay in managing ESFVON's office, she guided and supported all staff - and was outstanding in her organisation of the countless events promoted during the past 16 years.

Her humour, commitment and contribution will be sorley missed.
